As detailed in our previous article, following last summer’s consultation, the Gambling Commission will be introducing new requirements from the end of next month.
Financial Vulnerability Checks for remote operators
Light touch financial vulnerability checks will be implemented for customers with a net deposit of more than £500 a month. These checks will focus on publicly available data and will not require operators to consider individual details such as postcode or job title.
Operators should bear in mind that the £500 net deposit threshold will be reduced to a £150 a month from the 28th February 2025.

Age Verification
New rules will come into force meaning that all land-based licensees must carry out age verification test purchasing regardless of size of operation. To date, operators with an operating licence category of A or B did not have to undergo this requirement.
As part of the Gambling Commission’s good practice code of conduct, licensees will be expected to operate a challenge 25 policy rather than challenge 21.
