“The Gambling Commission (GC) has released its annual enforcement report for 2018 /19 which includes notable enforcement cases and useful health check guides.
The GC advises that the report is to be used as a support tool for the industry and for the industry to learn from and use the lessons contained within it.
The document highlights that the GC conducted more than 160 regulatory and criminal investigations for the reporting period and that enforcement action during the 2018 – 2019 financial year has resulted in a total of £19.6 million in penalty packages.
Gambling Commission Chief Executive Neil McArthur states in his introduction to the report that “On a more positive note, we have also worked with operators to raise standards by successfully launching a programme of co-creation workshops and webinars which engage with operators on a whole host of issues – encouraging ideas, debate and solutions. We have been pleased with the initial results of these initiatives, which look positive, and we expect this work to continue and grow in the coming year…”
